No More Breast Cancer gets off to a great start at Paris gathering
As a speaker in a keynote panel debate at the ARTAC conference in Paris, November 2006, launching the Paris Appeal Memorandum, No More Breast Cancer campaign's Diana Ward was invited to speak on 'grassroots citizen demands and actions' in relation to our campaign on environmental links to breast cancer. Attending the event, hosted at the UNESCO building, were more than 800 leading scientists, writers, activists from the USA and across Europe - all gathered to discuss environment and health issues and to put pressure on politicians to deliver a cleaner, safer environment that in turn promotes good health for all citizens. NMBC also had a presence in the conference exhibition area where NMBC campaigners met with many interested individuals and organisations, keen to know more about the UK campaign and how it could be expanded into other countries.
At the end of the one day conference, a press release was issued outlining the outcomes of the day and to which we were signatories. Considerable press coverage was secured in the UK and across Europe. Not only was it an inspiring and highly informative event, but the reception given to the No More Breast Cancer campaign was most encouraging.
